      Jessie Pringle and her service dog, Toby, move to Pine Creek, Maine, from the bustle of urban Atlanta, where Jessie hopes to move on from the terrible attack that left her traumatized and scarred. She immediately connects with Ian MacKeage, one of the many handsome MacKeages who run the local resort, but worries that her personal demons will drive him away. Chapman (A Highlander Christmas) relies on the magic of Christmas to explain away passages about the MacKeages’ mystical abilities, which will only make sense to readers of her Pine Creek Highlander series. But the romance between Jessie and Ian is compelling and sweet, albeit too quick to move past any awkward moments around Jessie’s injuries.
