Grades 3-6 Milo and Jazz return to solve their twelfth mystery, and they do so with style. The town has gathered to see the opening of a 75-year-old time capsule after it's dug from the ground. Instead, though, all they find is a skeleton and a taunting note from the kid who seems to have taken the capsule. The citizens of Westview are aghast that their bit of history is gone, and everyone has a different idea about finding it. Milo and Jazz find themselves pitted against Gordy, the school prankster, as they race to the nursing home and then over to the library to find help as they figure out the time capsule's location. This series continues to have so much going for it. Not only are the mysteries solvable and the line drawings a plus, but both the detective duo and readers benefit from the presence of Dash Marlow, a private eye who corresponds with Milo and Jazz and offers brain teasers at the end of the book. Clever and fun.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2014, American Library Association.)
