Chapman’s engaging fourth Spellbound Falls novel (after Courting Carolina) pairs up Nicholas, an Atlantean who’s now director of security for the exquisite and magic-drenched Nova Mare resort, and Julia Campbell, a quiet, pretty housekeeper at the resort. After Nicholas steps in to protect Julia from her bullying brother, he’s impressed by her strength of character and fierce loyalty. While a career upgrade increases Julia’s financial security as well as her confidence, she cannot fathom why Nicholas, the most eligible bachelor in town, is attempting to woo her. As the chemistry between Julia and Nicholas heats up, Julia resists forging a stronger connection until she realizes that the magic she senses could be real. Life-and-death struggles between magic-wielders force her to stretch her imagination and decide how much she will risk for love. Fans will find this a satisfying addition to the series.
