GUERRAS PÚNICAS: los tres conflictos librados entre Roma y Cartago entre el año 264 al 146 antes de Cristo • El término púnico deriva del latín punicus o poenicus e identifica a los cartaginenses, en referencia a sus ancestros fenicios. Por su parte, los cartagineses denominaron a los conflictos como “guerras romanas”.

Guerras Púnicas • Fueron tres guerras peleadas por Roma y Cartago desde el 264 a.C. hasta el 146 a.C. Para ese momento, probablemente fueron las guerras más grandes que habían tenido lugar en la humanidad. Se produjeron debido al afán que tenían ambos imperios por expandirse.
