Popular during the Victorian era, floriography was defined and utilized as a way to express feelings toward others through the gift of floral bouquets. There have been many books written over the years on this topic, but writer/photographer Buttermore and Mango Publishing Creative Director McGuinness's (Across the Deep) title stands out since it also gives readers detailed instructions on how to create arrangements for different sentiments. Readers will learn what flowers to use and how to place them within their arrangements. The book supplies three styles of glossaries: one with the meanings and emotions associated with flowers, another that lists flower names, and a third that offers seasonal options. VERDICT A thorough and well-executed title about floriography for modern times. This book is filled with beautiful photography and inspiration for general readers to create their own sentimental bouquets.--Loni Wetherell
